Children’s Art Workshop September 5 2010
Written by Joan Sherratt
This two hour workshop:- Painting with Acrylics on Canvas—was taken by the under twelves associated with the village. It was a pleasure to teach, the children were enthusiastic and self motivated. They all proved to be very talented and produced work worthy of exhibiting at the Marton Art Festival.
Do come and see their paintings in the church, October 1,2,3 weekend.
I would like to thank the parents who came along and supported the workshop, they should be proud of their children. We must not forget the one grandparent, who also had a go and produced a very pleasing painting.

Marton Art Festival 2010

Marton Art
Work has already started on the organisation of the October Marton Art Festival. This will be the fifth Art Exhibition held in the church and this year we will have even more room to display all forms of Art and Craft as the floor has been lowered following the removal of some of the pews and we have been given new display boards. We would like to record the group’s gratitude to all who have worked so hard to provide such a good working and exhibition environment. There is a constantly changing small exhibition of paintings and photographs and the notice boards are there for the village groups to use. Please feel free to display relevant material and catch up on village happenings; the church is open most days. The Art exhibition is the first weekend in October. Entry forms are available now and need to be returned by the middle of September in order that the exhibition schedule can be compiled. Last year we hung nearly 200 paintings and photographs; the standard was very high and we were pleased by the sales. We would like more craft and we can cope with as much produce as you can spare for this popular stall. Please consider how you can be involved; we are grateful for all the help that you can give to making this year as successful as 2009. The Marton Art Exhibition is becoming a well-known venue for artists in the area and the wine and cheese preview evening is always well attended ------- put Friday, 7.00pm, the first of October in your diary. There will be a small Art Exhibition at Sports day, situated alongside the museum, and opportunities for the children to paint or crayon, with maybe the odd prize or two. Come and see how you could become involved and maybe collect entry forms. Incidentally the children do not need entry forms just their paintings on the day on September 30th. If you would like further information please get in touch with Joan Sherratt at Church Cottage 632 837 or
